“Who is she? Wrong question. The right one: which one is she?”— Fenna
There are two descriptions of Fenna and they cannot both be true.
In one, she's a child standing at a door, fifteen years ago, waiting for a brother who said he'd be right back.
In the other, she's a woman in present-day Vryehelm — sharp, fast, smiling like she knows the ending of a story you haven't finished reading.
The detective working the Vryehelm murders doesn't talk about Fenna. But the case keeps circling her name the way water circles a drain, and sooner or later, everything in Day Zero goes down it.
