Jack was a teacher once. The occupation did not close the schools. It changed what was taught in them. He left the day he understood the difference.

The Compromises
The occupation did not break him. It made him quieter, and far more dangerous when pushed. He carries the weight of every compromise he has made. Other men in his position stopped counting. Jack has not.

The Reckoning
That is either the best thing about him or the thing that finally destroys him, and he does not know which. The day he finds out is the day Frysia learns his name.
