An emerald ring with shadows that move inside the stone. The Veritas Ring reads memory through touch — and according to the oldest accounts, reading is the least of what the unbroken stone could do.
The ring is damaged. It has been since a night two hundred years ago when fire shattered its setting in the middle of the most famous betrayal in history. What remains is still enough to take a memory apart and rebuild it differently.
The whispered version, the one they tell in Vryehelm: the ring doesn't steal memories. It borrows them. The problem is, it never gives them back the same way.
And one more thing the whispers add. The Veritas is half of something. Somewhere in the world, there's another half.
