Character in the Al Millennium universe

Jack Bergen

A war veteran who lost most of his unit in the colonial conflicts yet managed to maintain his moral compass despite witnessing countless atrocities. Unlike some of his fellow veterans, he continues to fight for what's right even when circumstances force him into morally ambiguous territory.

?

A Frysian war veteran who lost most of his unit in the colonial conflicts, Jack carries the burden of survivor's guilt and the weight of witnessing countless atrocities. Unlike some of his fellow veterans, he has managed to maintain a sense of moral compass despite the darkness he has experienced. His natural leadership abilities and protective instincts make him a stabilizing force in chaotic situations.

Jack's military experience taught him the true cost of political decisions made by those who never have to face the consequences of their choices. He has seen how the children of the elite send the children of the poor to die for causes that benefit only the wealthy. This knowledge has made him cynical about politics while strengthening his commitment to protecting those who cannot protect themselves.

His involvement in recent events stems from economic necessity rather than malice, but his conscience continues to struggle with the moral implications of his actions. Jack represents the possibility of redemption even in the darkest circumstances, though whether that redemption is achievable remains to be seen.
